Wildland Urban Interface Taskforce

Rapid Deployment Interface Firefighting

As the number of homes and businesses built in wildland settings continues to increase, so do losses to wildfire.

What Is The Urban Interface Taskforce?

NorthTree Fire and All Terrain Water Corp.work as an alliance to provide a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Taskforce. The Taskforce provides Compressed Air Foam and Gel equipped water tenders and engines, and can be orderd with a NWCG-qualified Task Force Leader. This unique package of equipment allows fire managers to order up an entire structure protection group of firefighters and equipment. Familiarity with each other and their equipment frees these firefighters to do what they do best - fight fire.

The Green Knoll Fire

In 2001, an Urban Interface Task Force was deployed in Wyoming during the Green Knoll Fire near Jackson. This historic event did not go un-noticed by the American Fire Service, the Press, or the Citizens of Jackson. Using resources from five states, private contractors deployed with government agencies and stopped what was sure to have been a disastrous loss of property.

The Black Mountain II

In 2003, our Urban Interface Task Force was mobilized to the Black Mountain II Fire, just west of Missoula, Montana. We utilized our Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) to pre-treat structures in advance of a firestorm that blew through a subdivision. This was an example of public and private entities working together to provide Wildland Urban Interface protection.

Another tool in the Toolbox

While there are numerous issues that need to be addressed in the mitigation of an unprecedented and at-times catastrophic hazard in the WUI, the National Urban Interface Task Force is the latest tool to fight this battle.
