Barry is qualified as Type I incident commander, operations section chief, prescribed fire manager and burn boss at all complexity levels. He is an instructor and cadre leader for BEHAVE Fire Behavior Modeling, RX 300 Prescribed Fire Burn Boss, FireFamily Plus, Cadre leader and instructor for RX 450 Smoke Management.

As Regional Fuels and Prescribed Fire Specialist for U.S. Forest Service Region 5, Mr. Callenberger represented the Region Fire and Aviation Management Program on Prescribed Fire issues, developed interagency agreements for cooperative use of prescribed fire, and provided leadership for California forests in the prescribed fire area. He developed prescribed fire policy for Region 5, monitored target attainment, and created the Prescribed Fire Incident Reporting System for Windows.

Barry works as an independent consultant to NorthTree. In this role, he performs wildland fire and fuels management planning, fire weather assessment, and fuels treatment implementation services. He also provides wildland fire and fuels management training, and works as an expert witness on legal matters pertaining to wildland fire.

Northtree Fire provides Mr. Callenberger with technical expertise to conduct landscape-scale fuels assessments, and helps him to build and run FLAMMAP and FARSITE fire behavior models.
